News

As the World Cup coming in just a few weeks we take a look at some teams and why to support them in the upcoming World Cup Russia 2018, its time to look at Nigeria.

Nigeria together with Romania and Bulgarians are typically the known one to be underdogs but are most likeably the teams you love to watch provided that they give entertainment.

It was the first time that they made it to the World cup, and they show their dreams by playing their best against the experienced ones they can have more improvements in the future. They’ve been part of every adventure since the even in Germany in 2006, and was the first ever Africans to make it to Russia.

Nigeria has a weapon of being a reliable attacking threat,  and the old German Gernot Tohr has the unstoppable force together with his confidence will help them to a higher grounds even more, despite being banned for fielding ineligible player in their previous game against Algeria.

Having the sanction they had to forfeit the 3-0 game, a game that they draw the match to 1-1 so that was a lucky situation for them to garner enough points on their pockets, Nigeria getting things done easily.

In Brazil four years their campaign was not good because players boycotted training because of the rumors that the non-payment of bonuses were due for qualifying. Pushed the sports minister of South America to bring the cash. (Click the link to more about World Cup Fixtures)

There was a similar incident that happened in France during 1998, and Rohr warned about it and said. “The issue of bonuses and allowances, which are the usual African problem we see during the World Cup, must be avoided. Such issues will be bad for our preparation.”

Setting aside the issue, the talents arises from their team having

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, John Mikel Obi (now in China with Tianjin TEDA, formerly of Chelsea), Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho and the versatile Victor Moses, giving his shot at Stamford Bridge, some of the familiar faces for fans of the Premier League are present in the team, so there’s no problem regarding if they can compete with other teams or not.

But they are about to face challenging matches in Group D.

In a nutshell they will be competing against Argentina’s squad which will make their every singe of the five matchups defeat in the World Cup making it the South Americans to be dominant in their battles.

Also present in the Group D is the Euro 2016 stars Iceland, and the Croatia. Step by step moving forward, Nigeria will unlikely be stopped in the early rounds but they are still a team to look out for during the World Cup.

They also have hiding some tricks up their sleeves so we better watch out for some game changing kit they can offer. Super Eagles are back on the big scene at the World Cup Russia 2018.
