World Cup News: The new captain Harry Kane says that they can win World Cup

News

Striker Kane a 24-year-old player was informed about being made skipper by their Manager Gareth Southgate a few weeks ago and confirmed on Tuesday.

Kane had wonderful performance in all the competition scoring 41 goals for Tottenham and finished third in the Premier League.

According to Kane “It’s impossible not to dream about lifting the World Cup. It’s the biggest competition in the world,”

“I believe we can win it – anyone can. I cannot sit here and say we are not going to win it because we could do.

“It is my mindset and I want to win at everything I do. The players in the team want to as well. It is worth fighting for. I am sure we have all had dreams of lifting it and it is an opportunity for us.

“We are not favourites but you look at this season, no-one would have thought Liverpool getting to the Champions League final. You look at Manchester United back in the Sir Alex Ferguson days, they had a young team and dominated the Premier League for years to come.

“Being young is not an excuse – it could be a good thing. I believe we can and that is what we want to try and do. Anything else is not good enough.”

England will be flying to Russia on June 12 and will be having their first match against Tunisia on June 18, followed by conquest with Panama and Belgium to make it up to the knock out stage complete their group. (Get FIFA World Cup Update here)

Kane had experienced being a captain for England last summer’s World Cup qualifier in Scotland, having a late reaction they still scored to have a great match last summer, after that he was able to wear the armband in three events.

The other team mates Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson also have skippered England recently.

Kane, who had 23 appearance for his country impressively scored 12 goals and described by Southgate as a “meticulouys professional”.

Having said about this Southgate is pretty confident in appointing Kane as the captain because he has amazing qualities that might help the squad progress.

Southgate having a choice between two strong players is a tough choice but choosing either of them will give him the outcome he wants because both have strong qualities to be the captain of the team. In the end going with Kane and few who witnessed him wearing the armband for England would certainly have their opinion and will agree that he made a wise decision.

Kane shows that he can be more handful of the responsibilities that can be given to him and at the same time exceeding the expectation of the people especially when he save the match from defeat against Scotland last year.

He really is the first-choice, who can lead the team with a collected and calm personality, and can deal with different issues and order from the World Cup tournament.
