Takuma Asano is eyeing for World Cup breakthrough as national football club Japan reached Russia 2018.
The 23-year-old rising star has 12 international caps so far. Despite the modest level of his top-grade experience, Asano never fell short of aspiration to get a regular place in coach Vahid Halilhodzic’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia squad (standby for the most competitive betting odds).
In an interview, the young lad said, “Regardless of my age and experiences, I am just trying to work hard to win my place with the national team.
“I want to do my utmost for Japan team. Particularly, I want to contribute my share and that our team makes history in the World Cup.”
In the five World Cups, Japan have only managed to progress beyond the group stage twice. The national club reached Round of 16 in the year 2002 and 2010.
Nevertheless, Asano believes that Japan have a fair chance of progressing to the next stage if only they could maintain the level of performance they need to qualify.
Asano furthered, “It is always a challenge for us to play against the world’s best teams and we must give our all if we are to reach th second stage. But we should set new goals to achieve better results than before. For me, I should do my best to make our World Cup team.”
