There are many doubts from the side of Argentina.
At 33, Mascherano is near to end his career, while both of their strikers Sergio Aguero and midfielder Lucas Biglia had some injuries. The pressure is onto Paulo Dybala as he is yet to deliver for his country after the promising at Juventus.
They also have a bad record of recent games having three consecutive loss in finals matches: the 2014 World Cup, the 2015 Copa America and 2016 Copa America Centenario.
They had save a spot for the World Cup Russia 2018 in the last round will a big help of Lionel Messia the captain against Ecuador in South American qualifiers, then sadly then scored 6-1 losing a friendly to spain last March.
According to Mescherano “We can’t be thinking about becoming World Cup champions, but about arriving as a group in the best way and generating trust that we lack today because of the situations that we have experienced,”
Then added “It’s fundamental to start the World Cup well, not go crazy thinking about a hypothetical final, and think about it stage by stage,” he said. “The World Cup shows you the path that you should take along the way.”
