Alvaro Morato of Spain
Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata was not chosen to be part of Spain’s 23-player squad on Monday for the World Cup.
Choosing only three striker for the tournament in Russia Spain’s coach Julen Lopetegui had a tough decision in narrowing it to Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo to finish it off.
According to Lopetegui “There wasn’t anything negative about (Morata). But we thought there were other players in the position who could help us,”
Not being chosen the 25-year-old has a lot of potential but when he was acquired by Chelsea for $75 million and managed to score only 11 goals for England in this season, Morato had some struggles this year and was not picked to be in the squad for Spain’s most recent matches but Lopetegui had said that there’s a chance for player to make it to the World Cup.
After not being included in the squad Morato showed his support for the Spanish side using his Twitter and wrote “Best of luck in the World Cup. I’ll be supporting and cheering through the end, as always.” (World Cup Fixtures updates)
Mario Gotze of Germany
One of the most iconic moment for a player is to score the winning goal for the squad but falling into injuries and fitness problems Mario Gotze got excluded to be part in the World Cup 2018 not being able to take part for the upcoming tournament.
Mario Gotze, the one who scored the winning goal for Germany had to take a break and settle not being in the World Cup tournament in Russia was a saddest story for him and for his supporters.
Gotze had to face myopathy, a rare muscle disorder, last season, which resulted for him to not play for a longer period. But the injury wasn’t the only reason of career setback that was happening on his life.
“It wasn’t his season, He did not show what his qualities are. He just did not have the form.” As manager of Germany Joachim Low had stated.
Gotze wrote on Twitter his support and show that he wants to get back in the squad “Of course I’m sad that I’m not attending the World Cup. I will do everything I can to get back to the squad of our national team. I wish the boys, the coaches and the team behind the team a good time in Russia and I will keep my fingers crossed for everyone to be world champions.”
