Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah remains very positive of playing in the FIFA World Cup 2018 despite getting injured in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Salah sustained a shoulder injury at Kiev Olumpic Stadium after a first-half challenge with Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos.
The English forward, who scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season, tried to carry on after the tangle with Ramos in the 26th minute.
However, Salah was later forced to leave the pitch a few minutes later and was replaced by fellow team-mate, Adam Lallana.
The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp described the damage on the club’s official website,“It’s a serious injury, a really serious injury.
“He is in the hospital for an X-ray. It’s either the collarbone or the shoulder itself. It doesn’t look good, that’s it.”
But regardless of the disappointing circumstance and a risk of getting ruled out in the World Cup 2018, Salah keeps a very high optimism of becoming fit in time for the globally awaited football tournament.
In an Instagram post last Sunday, the 25-year-old Liverpool star clearly suggested that he expects to play in Russia with the Egyptian national team.
“It was a very tough night, but I’m a fighter. Despite the odds, I’m confident that I’ll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need,” he wrote.
The FIFA World Cup begins in 17 days, with the host nation Russia taking on Saudi Arabia in the first Group A match.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s first match will be against Uruguay that is going to take place on the second day of the tournament.
